15 portraits of Brighton Beach residents proving that Russia always lives in a person

Brighton Beach is an area with a bright, memorable name, located in the southern part of the famous Brooklyn in New York. But the most interesting thing in it is that it is a real Russian island in a very American, noisy and multinational metropolis. The emigration of our compatriots to the States began in the mid-70s, and in the early 90s, after the collapse of the USSR, only the lazy did not go to America. It so happened that most of our fellow citizens chose this colorful New York area, making it a place where any Russian, Ukrainian or Jew can feel at home.

And when we say "at home," we are not exaggerating at all! Wherever you go to Brighton Beach, there will always be "native" faces, the usual style of clothing, hairstyles and make-up characteristic of our women. You don’t have to strain English skills either: native speech is heard everywhere, and most of the signs are in Russian. The area is so “ours” that it would be difficult for an ordinary American to navigate it.

Now just look at the people of Brighton Beach and make sure that you can’t take Russia out of your soul wherever you go and no matter how long you live there.
