Romanians prove that Dior copied their national costumes in a recent collection

Fashion brands are often criticized for the shameless plagiarism of other brands or artists, as well as the "borrowing" of elements from cultures of different nations.

When last year a new pre-fall collection of the legendary Dior house appeared, many noticed that some of the outfits seemed painfully familiar to them. The creators of the collection focused on the small Romanian region of Bihor. As it turned out, the Dior coat has a stunning resemblance to traditional coats in Bihor.

However, this whole situation received an unexpected turn and a truly ingenious solution to the problem of combating cultural appropriations. Romanian fashion magazine Beau Monde launched a company to expose and clarify the facts. With the help of local craftsmen and designers of Bihor, they created a new fashion brand that will help preserve the traditions of the region.

Thus was born Bihor Couture - a project that allows fashion enthusiasts to purchase authentic, traditional Bihor clothing for a much lower price, while at the same time paying for the work of the local craftsmen who create it.
