Hatarakimono: the artist removes Japanese workers from various fields in their uniforms

No matter what the Japanese do and what position they occupy, as a rule, they are very proud of their work. This feeling of pride in their work is so natural and organic for the inhabitants of the Land of the Rising Sun that for him there is even a separate word - hatarakimono.

French artist Frank Le Petit, inspired by this feature of the Japanese working culture, began a project called Hatarakimono three years ago. In the first year of filming, he photographed about a hundred workers in various fields in their uniforms.

The Frenchman brought all the necessary equipment for shooting to the place of work of the heroes of the photo project, asked them to escape from everyday duties for just a few minutes and stand on a small stool, then the photographer took several frames to make up a kind of “photo triptych” from them. The pictures were very stylish and original. It seems like we have boxes with toy figures, and not real people.
